Welcome to the 2021-2022 Academic year!
We are excited to begin the IB Diploma Programme journey with you. CAS is an important part of the IB experience, and this handbook/website will serve as a reference point for you throughout the year. Please make sure that you carefully read this handbook/website carefully and ask questions of the IB Coordinator to ensure you understand the requirements, as I will serve as your CAS Coordinator. Managebac is the online system we use to "manage" all aspects of the IB DP, including CAS. Managebac will allow you to record your CAS experience and to conduct your reflections and get supervisor approval and feedback. Please ensure you check Managebac regularly. Ramifications from the Covid-19 pandemic continue to provide challenges for us and updates will be posted in the messages section of Managebac. Please note that you should follow safety protocols and know you are welcome to complete CAS experiences virtually if you wish. You may use the document to the right (a hyperlinked PDF document) or this website to learn about the requirements for CAS. One of the reasons that I love CAS is that you are able to link your learning in your subjects/TOK to real-work experiences. I love hearing the stories of your being able to learn and grow in your knowledge and skills. CAS allows you to develop as a whole person in allowing you to develop self-awareness and a sense of identity as well as foster international-mindedness. Remember that CAS is an expectation of the IB DP Programme and is one of the elements that factors in to receiving your IB Diploma. I look forward to reading and hearing of your CAS experiences. If, after you've reviewed the CAS handbook/website, you still have questions regarding CAS, don't hesitate to reach out. Sincerely, Ms. Willett and the MPHS IB Community. |
